Our company

The Lionel Samson Group was founded as a merchant trader,commencing business in 1829 in Fremantle. The company has been a consistent leader in the development of the State of Western Australia. The family continue to own and operate the business ranging from wine making, vineyards, wine and beer wholesale distribution, packaging, bulk bags, and through its sister companies Sadleirs Group logistics, national road and rail transportation and international freight forwarding.

The Lionel Samson Group today consists of four business units and one associate company:

• The Lionel Samson Casama Alliance The Lionel Samson Casama Alliance,is a wholesale liquor joint venture with the Casama Group from Melbourne. The wholesale selling platforms are Mezzanine, red+white and Lionel Samson. It is the largest independent liquor wholesaler in the state, selling the finest Australian, New Zealand and imported wines, both domestic and international beers.
   
• Storsack Pty Ltd is a joint venture with GREIF Corporation of the USA, and is the world’s largest manufacturer of industrial woven polypropylene bulk bags for the mining, food, chemical and farming industries.
   
• Paccom International a division of Lionel Samson, is a merchant of industrial packaging and general packaging materials and plastics to the building and construction industry.
   
• Plantagenet Wines Pty Ltd is located in Mt Barker and was the first winery to be established in the Great Southern wine region of Western Australia. With over 35 years of experience producing the finest Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Riesling varieties, Plantagenet is wholly owned and operates 131 hectares (359 acres) of vineyards.
   
•  Sadleirs Transport Group (an associate company owned by the family holding companies) Sadleirs Transport is a general carrier linking all mainland states of Australia via an efficient road and rail network, with its own computer-linked depots in every state.
